Full description
Explore on this exclusive guided tour the streets of the Old Town, between the Filangieri Museum and the Church of SS. Filippo and Giacomo, to the Association Respiriamo Arte. The tour starts from an extraordinary and precious place, which testifies to the genius of its founder and his multiple interests: an eclectic collection, perfectly kept, very rich and unique.

The Filangieri Museum will welcome you with the Carlo Filangieri room, characterized by the extraordinary vaulted mosaic ceiling in which the gaze is lost. Continuing up the spiral staircase you will reach the Agata room, here, dominated by the majolica floor with the coat of arms of the Filangieri family and on the walls paintings that embrace a time span ranging from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, mirror of the collecting taste of Prince Filangieri. Finally, a wooden step allows access to the hanging passage, a space that expands the exhibition area with porcelain from various parts of the world and allows you to reach the library.

Enjoy a short stop to taste Neapolitan coffee and delicacies. Then continue with the exclusive visit of the Church of the Saints Filippo and Giacomo in areas normally inaccessible to the public such as: the area of the frescoes of the end of the 1500s, testimony of the very first silk chapel. See the eighteenth-century sacristy which houses the works of the wood carvers of the Neapolitan eighteenth century and examples of seventeenth-century silk art. Furthermore, one enters from a finely worked bronze trap door to the suggestive crypt, burial place of the guilds and silk daughters, and then finally from the inner courtyard you can reach the archaeological remains where it is possible to see evidence of Roman and late fifteenth-century Naples.

To conclude, the visit that traces the history of the Noble Art of Silk, will describe the works of art that some of the most important marble workers, sculptors, painters and master carvers of the Neapolitan eighteenth century created for the church; the likes of Alessio D’Elia, Jacopo Cestaro, Giacomo Massotti, the Massa brothers, Giuseppe Sanmartino.
