What people are saying about Mount Vesuvius

Worth it for a carefree, well organized day tour

I would definitely recommend the tour to people interested in experiencing a carefree excursion while visiting a historic place. Our pick-up meeting point was just down the street from our accommodation, so there was no stress of figuring out how to get there in the morning. Elisa, our guide to Pompeii, was very professional, multilingual and seemed to have a lot of experience. After Pompeii we had lunch at the cafeteria, where we could chose between 3 dishes (pasta, pizza or lasagna), which was perfectly fine, especially because u wouldn’t want to have a heavy three course meal before walking up the path to Mt. Vesuvius in Italy’s August heat. Last but not least I’d like to mention our bus driver Guiseppe who showed perfect driving skills maneuvering the bus up the winding streets to Mt. Vesuvius. Of course one should be aware that the path up Mt. V. itself is less a hiking experience than a walk up to the crater, leaving u nevertheless with beautiful& impressive views over Naples.

Great small group experience with musical guide

The Easy way to experience Pompeii and Vesuvius if you want a comfortable door to door tour. The clean modern mini bus was on time with a sensible driver. The group was only six on this day although we joined seven others for the Pompeii tour with an experienced knowledgeable local guide. All the entry fees were included as was a delicious pizza lunch. There was some confusion over the “wine tasting” which others in the group did get. We thought this was a separate experience on the way home but it turned out to be three tiny tastes with a different three course lunch selection. We thought we had had the best of it as the Vesuvius walk would have been even harder with the big lunch. On our way home our happy bus group sang along to some opera then listened to our guides band singing their own compositions (they were very good) A great choice of provider for this tour for those looking for a well organised day. Thank you Matti (guide) and Jacamo (driver) .

Pompeii was 5* awesome, Vesuvius not so much 2*

I'll start with the Great! Our Pompeii guide, Elisa, was absolutely the best! Super informative and told great stories about the city and brought it to life throughout the tour. Could not have asked for a better Pompeii experience. She earned 5+ stars every bit. ... now to the other ... Mt. Vesuvius experience was a 2 star. Our guide, I forgot her name, was just bad - it wasn't even clear she was a guide until she started talking about halfway through the trip to Vesuvius - then she made bad jokes about the driver. At the mountain, she just said "bye, see you when you get back" from hiking up and taking our own tour with guides that are at the mountain itself. It was such a short amount of time that by the time you actually did the full hike, you had to almost run down to get back on time. Tip: the hike up Vesuvius is not very fun, loose gravel is tough to climb and then also rough on your knees and ankles coming down, very unsteady footing.

Great trip to Pompei and Mount Vesuvius, but should start earlier

The bus was colecting people from hotels for a while and only arrived to Pompei at around 11 am, where an English speaking guide showed us the hotspots of the archeologic site, for about 2 hours. We then had a reasonable lunch (pizza, lasagna or tomato spagetti) at a restaurant nearby. The climb to Mt Vesuvius started at 3 pm, when it was 35 degrees Celsius; although it’s only 200 mts, it was really difficult. Therefore, my only suggestion would be to start collecting people one hour before, at 08.30, then proceed to Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii after lunch.

It's a MUST DO for Rome, don't miss out!

Chiara was an exceptional tour guide, we loved her! She was humorous, personable, and had many, many interesting facts about the history of Italy and the geographical significance of the regions. She shared her love of Italy with us and gave us insider information on what locals in Rome like to do. I could have walked Pompeii for 4 hours! Our guide, Arianna, was highly educated on the history and facts of the city. She was protective of us as a group and took us to see the best parts of the massive ruins. This is a Must Do with City Wonders tours!
