What people are saying about Moulin Rouge
We opted for dinner on the Eiffel Tower, rather than on the cruise, so as not to be distracted by eating while cruising the River Seine. The evening starts at the Tour Office, right near the Eiffel Tower. You are taken by Minibus and go straight past the crowds and up to dinner. You have time after dinner to go by stairs up to the second level of the Tower. Keep an eye on the time, as it's quite a wait for the elevator to get from the first floor back to ground level. There are only Emergency stairs down, which are blocked off. After dinner you walk for 2or 3 minutes to the river to catch the cruise boat. What a brilliant experience, as you go under all the bridges and are given a guided tour in multiple languages. Afterwards you reconnect with your driver, who takes you to the Moulin Rouge. It's all very organized and efficient getting to your seat. Men, it is formal dress. A tie would be good, but jacket is now optional. Especially if you go in summer.
Overall, we were really pleased we booked this excursion. The visit to the Eiffel Tower really was a flying one so if you want to explore the area a little more, I’d recommend a separate visit there. The food and wine once at the Tower was really disappointing though. We weren’t expecting gourmet standard, given that it was part of a package, but edible would have sufficed! Even the bread had a chemically taste to it. However, the boat cruise was just perfect and we had the most incredible sunset which made it all the more special! As for the Moulin Rouge, it was certainly an experience and one that we are pleased we did but it really is the most bizarre show I’ve ever seen…a must see! It was a lovely bonus to be driven back to our hotel at the end of the evening too!
