What people are saying about Moscow

Ms. Newman was impressive, knowledgeable, and caring, Excellent A+!

To whom it may concern: For the Communist Tour on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00, I encountered Ms. Tanya Newman at the St. Regis Hotel. In her initial explanation, Ms. Newman went to explain Moscow, Russian history including the monarchy, the late 19th, early 20th century, Russian revolution, Lenin, Stalin, the Soviet Union era, and the post Communist era. It was an impressive number of facts that still have an impact in Russia and around the world today. After my history lesson, Ms. Newman went to describe Lubyanskaya building and square with photographs and details. She described the history of the KGB, the statues honoring its prominent figures, the KGB's modus operandi, the number of victims, the old secrets and the lack of transparency until this day. Ms. Newman indicated that the Solovetsky Stone was one of the few monuments dedicated to the victims. After Lubyanskaya building and square, we proceeded to Red Square and entered the Lenin Mausoleum before it closed.

a must see to get the real perspective of the cold war years

buying the ticket was easy and the guide was already waiting for us with the tickets when we reached there. She was very nice and explained everything very good, in fluent english. The bunker is a must see, because of what it represents, everything in there is still kept as it is. Even though it was supposed to be built for Staline, it actually was built 3 years after his death and used until as recently as late 80s ! PEOPLE WITH CLAUSTROPHOBIA SHOULD AVOID !!, it is a bunker after all. As interesting as it is, it gives you the chills, after touring and witnessing a mock nuclear bomb launch, by the help of the visitors, when one realises what could have happened ! The tour of the bunker itself could be improved, the local guid only talked english, and most of the signs are only in russian, sometimes making you feel like an illiterate, but no matter what, it is a part of history one should see. Oh! and there are 300 steps to go down and up again after the tour...

It was incredible to meet my guide, very friendly and helpful to guide

She was very nice...she speaks fluent spanish...and leaning to help me in any doubt. definetly she's got vocation for that...and patient listening my doubts and requests...beyond the expectation that i had...even helped to change money at bank and translating from russian to me at metro station...thanks a lot Elena.. she is a friend now...

Really interesting tour with a local guide

We really enjoyed this tour. It was very informative and took us to places we might not have found on our own. We learned a lot from Andrew and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the Peter the Great Monument and also about some of the statues in the sculpture garden. Recommend highly.

This tour with our guide Mary was perfect!

We were very, very lucky with our tour guide Mary...she was young, smart, funny, up to date, answered every question and knew a lot, I mean really a lot about history and presence of Moscow...if every guide is like Mary, it is totally worth the money...
