Your guide will collect you from your hotel to take you on Moscow’s beautiful metro to the museum in the Zamoskvorechye District. Here, explore one the best collections of Russian art in the world, housed behind the fairytale façade of an early 20th-century building.

The gallery was founded by Moscow merchant Pavel Tretyakov who began collecting works by Russian artists in 1856. In August 1892, Tretyakov presented the collection and gallery to the City of Moscow.

Now reopened, after a 9-year renovation, the gallery is home to the world’s best collection of Russian icons, as well as a fantastic collection of pre-revolutionary masterpieces of Russian art.
