On this tour learn about the Kremlin from its origins, first mentioned in written records in the 14th century. Despite the damage the Kremlin suffered at the hands of Napoleon and his troops, the current complex has remained essentially the same since the 16-17th centuries, when the old fortress was replaced with a vast architectural complex to showcase the power of the new Tzars of Russia.
Explore the triangular enclosure of high red brick walls extending over 28 hectares between the Moskva River and Red Square. See how the walls are punctuated by 19 defensive towers, each with its own name and its own unique architectural style.
In addition to the Presidential Administration in the Senate Palace and the official residence of the President in the Terems Palace, the Kremlin contains many architectural treasures, including four cathedrals, two churches and many palaces.
