The day trips to 3 Tuscan cities plus a wine tasting visit of a wine producer, visiting his cellar and tasting 4 of his wines, was just great. Do remember this is not food tasting tour, so no lunches are provided, just bread and olive oil and cheese for the wine tasting. Each visit of the 2 old towns Pienza and Montalcino is about 1 hour each and the visit to Montepulciano old town is 1 and half hours to give time to those who opted to go on an optional half hour ride on the tourist train (additional charges to be incurred). Ana our tour guide was great and knowledgeable. She provided all the info you need before we arrive at any of the old towns. Then you have a free and easy self guided walk around town. It was just what I was looking for, as I don't like to be rushed and herded like sheep into towns from one location to another. I prefer to take my own time to explore the towns myself. Our gp was small about 15 of us, & contrary to other previous reviews, our bus was on time.
I highly recommend this tour. We had a fantastic time and learned so much more than we expected about all of Tuscany ! Our only disappointment was not enough time in Montepulciano . There was much time in other areas and zero time for photos or possible wine purchase in Montepulciano which was the most beautiful and well known part of the tour. I would have hoped for a little more time there . If I were to have the opportunity to do it again I would look for a half day tour to the Montepulciano winery on its own . Absolutely stunning and deserves more attention and appreciation.
Overall it was a great experience! Although not much of a food tour as it was more of a wine tasting and exploration of beautiful antient towns in the hills of Tuscany. Great tour guide as we learned about the difference between wine regions and got to purchase some beautiful wine to drink on our trip. If you don't like big groups then I would shy away because we felt like a hurd of cattle. Still a full day of beauty and adventure and would recommend.
This tour was excellent if you are looking for a way to get from town to town with renting a car. You spend about an hour or so in each town, which is generally enough time to walk through and enjoy the sights. This is definitely not a food tour so I'm not sure why it is labeled as such, although we did stop at one family winery which had great wine but with a slightly underwhelming tour.
One of the best Italian trips I’ve ever been to. To be honest I’m not a fan of wine but the wine provided is good and the cheeses/olive oil/salami are some of the best. Talking about the main travel, you’ll have time to take enough panaromic pictures of this fantastic place. Oh and I must say the lady guide of my group is one of the bests I’ve ever seen.
