Full description
Depart Merzouga, Rissani or the oasis town of Erfoud and travel by 4WD vehicle to a traditional Kasbah at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Depending on your time of arrival, rest with a refreshing mint tea. Then, follow your guide into the desert and ride a camel across the sands.

Trek across the magnificent landscape watching the sunset as you go. Arrive at the desert camp after a camel trek of approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival, your camels will be tethered as you drink some more mint tea. Enjoy a delicious dinner in the desert wilderness, and then sit around a camp fire to hear the beat of the drums and the songs of the Berber nomads of southern Morocco.

Wake early in the morning and walk over the sand dunes to watch the sunrise from just behind the Algerian border, about 50 kilometers from Merzouga. Ride your camel back to the hotel, where you can relax with a shower and enjoy breakfast. Drive back to the bus station or your hotel in Rissani or Merzouga for the end of the tour services.

wonderfull experience

the camel tour was so much fun, we where with a very big group (studytrip) and it was all arranged very well. Especially the overnight stay was perfect. We took the matrasses out of the camp on the sand hill and watched stars the whole night, the people there where very relaxed! Thank you for the experience!

Great and unique experience

Sahara desert was much more impressive than I imagined. Berber guys who took us to tents and back were nice and were not pushy for tips (refreshing) The guy at the compound before we left with the camels ripped me of for Jalaba (traditional hooded robe). Sold it to me for quadruple the price. Sleeping at the tents was definitely unique and the sunset/sunrise within the desert was breathtaking. Overall it was well worth the money, time and effort. No visitor to Morocco should skip the Sahara desert experience.

Beautiful excursion, unfortunately we had booked the excursion in Italian, but the guide did not speak Italian and very little English. 3.00 pm - a driver came to pick us up at the Riad where we were staying, about 30 minutes from the starting point of the excursion 5.00 pm - we leave the Kasbah and walk about 500 meters on a camel to admire the sunset 7 pm : 00 - We start off with the camel to reach the campsite, in this case it was a very nice and well-equipped campsite. Here we have dinner and after a bit of music around the fire we go to bed in our very luxurious tent. In the morning we go on foot on dunes to see the sunrise, then after a hearty breakfast, we return with the dromedary to the Kasbah to be taken back to the Riad On two bookings made on GYG with an Italian guide, neither of the two tours had the guide in Italian. So I recommend the excursion with a camel in the desert, but I do not recommend booking on GYG
