The trip is much more than a camel ride. It is an immersion into the beautiful culture of West Africa. Tot enjoy the experience you must enjoy the journey through the welcoming communities along the way.
Everything worked out as planned. Our guide showed up at our riad and began the long drive to Merzouga. He stopped whenever asked for photos and gave us options for lunch. On the return journey he purposely took us to a different lunch location so we could try different foods. The tour in the desert was great, the camel ride was a cool experience and the tagine dinner was excellent. The tents were surprisingly comfortable and warm. It's a long two days in a car but it is so much more comfortable than an overnight bus (the only public transportation option). I also did a fair bit of research and this was the best price I could find. If I had more time available I'd probably do it differently but on a time crunch, this was perfect! The only negative was that the driver didn't stop at the apes on the way there for some reason and on the return journey it was pouring rain so he said they wouldn't be out to see. The only disappointment in an otherwise perfect tour.
Our driver was accommodated there so we were sure he;s ok. Thanks for everything.
Our guide Mulay in Tinghir was fantastic. Good value for money. Will definitely recommend it.
We didn't really know what to expect. Overall it was a long journey, we drove every day (we had a good driver) - but on the first two days we made several stopps to take pictures or to visit places (e.g. Ait Ben Haddou and the Todra Gorge/Canyon was very nice). Even though we spent a lot of time in the Minibus, we also saw a lot of the country. I never expected to see so much different landscapes and villages. The camel-ride, sleeping under stars and sunset/sunrise made us forget everything else! Definitly worth it...and i would also pay more for that...
