The tour is designed individually so you can choose your highlights yourself . You can ask Lucia inside scoop about Matera because her mother was born there and she studied there . The history of Sasssi was a very emotional story in the words of the guid which made this tour unforgettable for us : we experienced the making of the next James Bond Fiona’s well .
Our tour was arranged with Dora and was outside the 'normal' time but Dora kindly agreed to our request. Our guide, Marinella, was delightful, knowledgeable and paced the tour to suit our needs. Such an amazing town with an astonishing history, and so much recent history. We had a great morning and thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Thank you
We booked the guide a day before and were lucky to be allocated Pasquale. His English is excellent and his knowledge outstanding. We wasted no time at any stage and he even recommended a cave restaurant in which to have lunch. A thoroughly informative and enjoyable journey.
Our guide was very considerate of my wife's Limited ability to navigate the many steps involved in touring the Sassi. She adjusted our path so that my wife could see as much of the old Town area as possible. We both enjoyed the tour and learnt a lot.
Our guide, Cosimo, was a Matera native and gave us a great appreciation for the long history of the area and the Sassi, in particular. I would strongly recommend this tour for anyone looking for more than a cursory look at the Sassi.
