Full description
After being picked up from your hotel in Marseilles, you’ll be driven to Ménerbes, known in ancient times as Machovilla. Once a Calvinist citadel, the town was besieged from September 1577 to December 1578 by a Catholic army of almost 10,000 men. Climb to the top of the village where you can admire a wonderful panoramic view of the Vallée du Lubéron. Visit the House of the Truffle and Wine and discover the variety of the wine produced in the area.

Next travel to Roussillon. As you make your way, pass through the deep green pine forest resting on top of bright red-ochre hills. Located in the heart of one of the biggest ocher sites in the world, Roussillon is famous for its magnificent red cliffs and ocher quarries. The red of the ochre, the green of the forest, and the blue of the sky form a triad of color that resounds throughout this scenic town. Take in this symphony of light as you walk down the narrow medieval streets and squares.

Your tour continues as you travel to the village of Gordes, located on the southern edge of the Plateau de Vaucluse. See the stark cliffs known the “stone cascade.” Venture to the foreboding 12th-century castle perched above the village, which serves as both a town hall and a museum of the works of the painter Pol Mara. After your tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel back in Marseilles.
