What people are saying about Marrakech

Great experience despite a very cold night in the desert

We visited Merzouga in January 2019. The trip is long, but we had a very good driver who drove safely and stopped for lunch, toilet etc. We heard from another group that they had a crazy driver so we were lucky! On our way we visited many interesting spots. The highlight was the tour to Aït Ben Haddou - the place where Gladiator, Indiana Jones and Game of thrones movies were shot. There was also a canyon on the way. Then we spent a night in a hotel. We had to share a room with two more girls and the room was freezing cold. I did not manage to sleep even though I had winter clothes on. Later when we spent a night in a tent in Sahara it was not as cold as in that hotel. Next evening finally Merzouga! The camel trip and the sky full of stars is fully worth the long trip. However it got again super cold in the night and morning and we did not manage to do the photoshoot in a dress. Later we learnt from locals that the best time to visit Merzouga is April-May. No toilet in the desert!

Really enjoyable evening spent; thanks to Youssef

Youssef met us at the appointed time; he was punctual, very polite and made us feel at ease right away. The other people that were meant to turn up didn’t and so, we had a private tour. We wandered through the streets of Marrakesh, stopping to have some locally prepared doughnuts that were surprisingly different to anything we had tried before - really tasty and not sweetened, washed down with some mint tea. We continued trough the streets of the medina trying pastries, olives, locally baked bread and other delicacies on the way, learning about some of the history and tradition. We then sat down to some local soup and finally, our main meal; I tried the sheep’s head and my partner had a tangier. All the food was really nice, we spent time with locals and all a wonderful experience thanks to Youssef. He was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and we felt very safe in his company. Thanks again for a great experience. Tunde and Therese

A camel trek through the Sahara - seeing is believing!!!

While it's a bit of a lengthy drive to get to Merzouga, it's absolutely worth it to be able to witness the Sahara dunes at both sunset/sunrise. Camels are also my new favourite way to travel! The campsite is basic but the dinner was hearty, I loved the traditional music and dancing and our Berbere guides couldn't have been more hospitable. My only criticism is that every stop was designed for us to buy something and the restaurants arranged for our lunch stops were expensive and really dirty and substandard. Our driver Mohamed and a tour guide at Ait Benhaddou became very rude and aggressive, actually yelling at us because no one wanted to do the "optional" tour - we all just wanted to wander the site by ourselves but the men were clearly angry that they would miss the commission. I wish it had been a little more relaxing but it did feel like we needed to be "switched on" 24/7.

Great experience! Must go if in Marrakech Omar was a great tour guide!

Booked this tour for my girlfriend and I and it did not dissapoint. Omar our tour guide went above and beyond our expectations. He gave us a in depth history of the food we were tasting and was also great fun to be around. At the end of the night he helped us find a way back to our hotel and made sure we got a fair price on our tuk tuk back, which was very kind of him! One helpful tip for those thinking of booking, go on an empty stomach as you're provided with plenty of food. Thank you Omar once again for a memorable experience in Marrakech.

Very good organised trip in which we’ve seen a lot in little time!

We’ve had a great experience with this trip. Our driver Mohamed Bajo was waiting for us near our Riad in time and perfectly drove us anywhere with several stops at hotspots to take pictures and enjoy the view or have a break. Riding the camels to the camp was also very fun and the overall experience at the desert was really worth the long drive! The only downside is that it’s really hot in the desert, so we would recommend not to go there when it’s above 35 degrees, since there are no air conditioners obviously.
