Full description
Combine 2 of Spain’s most historic cities on a full-day tour of Toledo and Madrid, traveling by comfortable air-conditioned coach.

Start in Madrid for an morning tour of the Spanish capital, exploring its medieval origins at sites such as the Arabic fortress and Barrio de la Moreria. See the Renaissance and Baroque buildings of Hapsburg Madrid, walking along Calle Mayor and Plaza Mayor.

Learn about the town planning of Carlos III during the days of the Bourbons, taking in historic monuments such as the Cibeles Fountain and Puerta de Alcalá. Pass the legendary Prado Museum, built during the kingdom of Joseph Bonaparte.

Then, admire the contemporary architecture along the Gran Vía, Paseo de la Castellana, and Barrio Salamanca, as well as the commercial areas around the Ventas Bullring or Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Your tour also includes a walk along the impressive new Madrid Rio park, strolling from Puente del Rey to Puente de Segovia to see the Royal Palace.

Then take an afternoon drive to Toledo, famous for the happy coexistence of Christians, Muslims, and Jews through the centuries. Marvel at architecture influenced by the Arabs, and of Gothic, Mudejar, Renaissance, and Baroque styles, including the 13th-century Gothic cathedral.

Go to the Church of Santo Tome to see El Greco's masterpiece "El Entierro del Senor de Orgaz" (The Burial of the Count of Orgaz), and discover the oldest still-standing synagogue building in Europe at Santa Maria la Blanca. Wander the Jewish Quarter to the Museum of Victorio Macho to admire the works of one of Spain’s most famous sculptors.

Learn about the historic victory over the army of Afonso V of Portugal at the Battle of Toro by King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile as you explore the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes. Then, visit a Damasquino (Damascene) factory to see the precious jewelry brought to Spain by the Moors.
