Full description
You will begin your day enjoying the landscape of the Madrilenian mountain range as you travel to your first stop of the day. Enjoy a guided tour of the Royal Monastery of El Escorial and discover its impressive construction, historical, artistic and architectural value of the buildings that have served as a royal residence, monastery, basilica, and pantheon.

After you will continue on to the Valley of Cuelgamuros where the highest Christian cross in the world indicates the location of the Valley of the Fallen. Here you will find an extraordinary and controversial site of architecture, sculpture and erected engineering in honor of the fallen in the Civil War that gave way to a long period of dictatorship in Spain. You will visit the interior of the Basilica carved into the rock and admire the grandeur of the monumental complex and its unique natural beauty.

You will then be off for an adventure in Segovia that starts with a guided walking tour under the imposing and world-famous Aqueduct. Then continue on, visiting the main monuments, enclaves, and viewpoints that make Segovia an essential visit from Madrid. You will see the Plaza Mayor, the spectacular Gothic Cathedral of Santa Maria, the viewpoint of Canaleja and, of course, another of its tourist icons the Alcazar (entrance included), a unique castle with the appearance of a Disney fairytale palace where you will finish the guided tour of Segovia.

Great tour with a very good guy. The first tour to El Escorial, Valley of the Fallen is separate from the second tour to Segovia. So it only goes from Madrid to El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen. Then back to Madrid :-( with a 1 hour break. Then it continues with a 1:30 hour drive to Segovia. By the return trip you lose approx. 2 hours !! We would not have booked the tour like this, but we would like to emphasize that the tour was made with full enthusiasm by the tour guide, who could provide a lot of detailed knowledge and background. SUPER JOB. All 3 places are definitely worth a visit. Impressive.

A great day out

I booked this tour over the net as my hotel did not have a travel desk. The trip visits the first two differing sites and following a short wait back in Madrid its off to Sergovia for the late afternoon / early evening. I thought it was great value for money and the two guides were excellent.

It was a great tour to learn about the culture of Spain. We enjoyed it very much. The only suggestion is that we would have like to have lunch at El Escorial area and to continue the tour to Segovia. We didn't like the break-up of the tour into two sessions where we returned to Madrid to wait for the afternoon tour. We could have used the waiting time and the transporting time at Segovia.
