What people are saying about MACRO Testaccio
If you're in Rome you MUST book an early trip to the Sistine Chapel. You will avoid all the queues and be able to see the chapel in all it's glory without being surrounded by crowds of people. You will get a very knowledgeable guide who will inform you of everything you need to see and explain the story behind the artistry. It is well worth paying the extra to take this guided tour before everyone else gets there. We were able to sit in the chapel and take in all the beauty of the painting and view it with knowledge of what each part of the painting depicts. Without the guide we would not have enjoyed it half as much. After the chapel we visited the museums independently and returned to the chapel some 90 minutes later to find it heaving with people. We were grateful that we had taken the opportunity of the early visit as we would otherwise probably have been visiting at that time. We then went on to view the Basilica. When we came out the queues had built up considerably!
Was great to beat the queues and have a relaxed view of the Sistene chappel. Our guide was phenominal; knowledgable, accomodating and just a beautiful person. Met some people on tour, made new friends from all over the world.
The tour was stunning! Nadia was great and getting early access is awesome especially if you have kids that lose interest easily. I also appreciated not having to stand in loonnnggg lines & be herded like cattle! The Vatican & Sistine Chapel was absolutely beautiful. I was disappointed we couldnt see St Peter's Basilica as it was closed to the public on the day :(
This is early May and the crowds are already awful. Our guide got us in early so that we could see the chapel before it was wall to wall people. She did a great job and this is the ONLY way to see this chapel. Lots of stairs to climb, so take that into account. You see the Museums on your own after you see the Chapel. We thought the Vatican Museums were the worst marked "major" museum we have ever visited. In many cases, the map only gives you the collection name (e,g. The Pinecone Collection) without any description of what is there. The map does not give you any indication of what floor you are on. We never found the Etruscan Collection because after asking what floor it was on, we couldn't find the stairs to that floor. So we gave up and left. When we saw the lines circling St. Peter's Square to get into the Basilica, we both said no way are we waiting in that line and left. Get Your Guide is a very good service and we used them a lot in Rome. Very happy with their service.
A bit pricey in comparison to standard tour but well worth it. No waiting, no queues and was amazing to be in the Sistine Chapel with no crowds. Highly recommended.
