What people are saying about Lugano
I shouldn't say there is nothing to see in either city, but rather in the allotted time there's nothing you can meaningfully see. We spent less than two hours in each place so you have time to grab a meal or do a little of shopping and that's it. The lake cruise, which was like a ferry, was 2 and half hours and you get told some interesting stories about people's houses. I thought it was an okay tour but not particularly insightful. Our tour guide was wonderful and friendly but maybe the organization of the tour just doesn't allow much.
Great day tour! Alice ..the guide was great. She was very informative and gave lots of historical details. We used the public boat transportation making stops along the way to picking up local passengers. Also, to see the beauty of the mountains and the small villages from the lake was picture perfect! But the weather was not with us and it was overcast, rainy and cloudy which did spoil the experience at Lugano & Como. We spent some time in Bellagio walking the narrow streets, shopping and having fantastic lunch.
We had a fantastic time in all the 3 places! Bellagio is such a beautiful place to visit, take photos, enjoy a glass of wine and to stroll around. Lake Como cruise was very relaxing and informative. Lugano was amazing and we decided to go once again on our own for a whole day to climb Monte San Salvatore and to have more time in Lugano. Our tour leader Alice was simply fantastic, informative, with a good sense of humor and her great tips on various topics where very helpful.
I loved our entire trip. Every sight was beautiful and our tour guide, Jo, was very knowledgeable about architecture, history and film sites. I would have loved to spend a little more time in Switzerland and sightseeing the other side of lake como. But all in all I would recommend Jo.
A day trip from Milan that the worth taking. Beautiful scenery, lovely villages and nice chocolate in Lugano. The ferry ride on Lake Como passes many small villages, historical homes and large mansions. I would recommend this trip.
