What people are saying about Lucca
Highly recommend seeing the town of Lucca. I would never have considered it but as the bus option came with seeing Pisa I gave it a go and I’m very glad I did. There are a lot of sights to see in the 3hrs you have there - in fact I wish I had more time there. Highlight for me was the Guinigi Tower. A few stairs to climb - around 250 - but the view at the top is just magic. Full 360 degree view of the city. Plus you can shade under the oak trees growing from the top. I felt the Pisa stop was a little rushed, considering you have to shuttle or walk the 10-15min to the tower - but if you’re only there to have the quickest whip around, then it’s fine. The bus ride is very comfortable and easy to get to the pick up location. I travelled on a cruise and our shuttle took us straight to the pick up point, but it would be easy to get to the square if you had accommodation in another spot. The 10.30am start is also quite nice for a sleep in!
Having been to Florence and Pisa before I was pleased to find Tuscany bus company's tour that offered 3 hours in Lucca. We were to meet a coach just where the shuttle bus had dropped us off and for £25 we were going to be dropped off at Lucca and then have a quick half hour visit to Pisa on the way back! We were thrilled to find that as there were only 7 of us booked on the tour,Tuscany Bus provided a private mini bus instead! The air conditioning was very welcome and the driver was waiting for us at the agreed rendezvous times and even dropped us right back to the ship! Tuscany bus company are reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again as Princess Cruise tour prices are horrendous and the groups are large!
The instructions for finding the coach transfer were spot on. The staff were helpful and informative. Although Pisa was the main reason we chose this excursion, we were recommended to try Lucca. What a lovely surpise, a hidden gem with charm and appeal & not too busy. Pisa was chaotic and overrun with tourists, glad we went but will not be rushing back. Would love to return to Lucca.
Lucca is a fantastic place, I only wish we’d had longer to explore. Pisa is a place you just have to visit once, not sure I’d go again, once you’ve seen the tower and everyone lining up their photos, there isn’t that much left to do. Lucca though is worth at least a full day, we simply loved it
The ease of their website, booking, cancellation policy, customer service and mobile app. I didn't know what to expect as this is our first time in Europe and I was skeptical about booking tours online. GetYourGuide is the only company I will use in our future travels! A++!
