Full description
After meeting your guide, your tour begins with a visit to Fort Lovrijenac, which is a fortress sitting 37 meters above sea level. In the 11th century the Venetians attempted to build a fort on the same spot where Fort Lovrijenac currently stands. If they had succeeded, they would have kept Dubrovnik under their power.

Following the fort you will continue the tour by passing through the gates of the western wall. Your guide will tell you the rich history behind the famous city walls, and on your walking tour some of the things you will see are:

• The Franciscan Church and Monastery, which is a large complex belonging to the Order of the Friars Minor

• The Onophrian Fountain, a 15th-century fountain which revolutionized how water was supplied within cities

 • The Church of Saint Blaise, which was built in 1715 by the Venetian architect and sculptor Marino Gropelli (1662-1728) on the foundations of a badly damaged Romanesque medieval church

• Sponza Palace, a 16th-century palace whose name is derived from the Latin word "spongia"

• Rector's Palace, which was used to serve as the seat of the Rector of the Republic of Ragusa between the 14th century and 1808, it was also the seat of the Minor Council and the state administration

Your tour finishes in the old city, where your guide can help you with any tips or directions you might need. Cruise ship passengers will also have easy access to local public transportation which will take them back to the port.
