Full description
As a city, London offers some of the most exceptional culinary experiences anywhere in the world. However, the best experiences are often found off the well-beaten path in local areas. This fantastic tour will lift the lid on London's thriving artisanal food and dining sector as you journey into super-trendy Hoxton to explore dining at a truly local level.

Experience pop-up dining with a difference at Eleven98, the brainchild of local chef Aidan Brooks, who welcomes you into his home for a unique two-course culinary experience. Eleven98 was set up as one man's tribute to his local area - Hackney - to celebrate the area's growth and progression over the years. All the ingredients are sourced locally, using local allotments for vegetables, independent butchers and fishmongers, artisanal bakeries, and even honey cultivated by family friends. Next, at St Mary’s Secret Garden, you’ll visit a community garden with a difference based in Hackney. The gardens provide a vital lifeline to the local community by helping combat isolation, loneliness, and develop invaluable employment and social skills. Produce grown on-site by its community of gardeners is available for the public to purchase.

Next up is 58Gin. Visit the site of a proudly independent, award-winning gin distillery based in Haggerston. Delight in a gin tasting session that explores the unique botanical blends produced by 58Gin and listen to the story of how Mark 'Moonshine' Marmont was inspired to set up his gin-making business from a kitchen table using traditional alembic copper stills from Portugal. Finally, visit the Better Health Bakery. Part of a Hackney mental health charity - the Centre for Better Health - this unique East London artisan bakery provides trainee placements for adults recovering from mental health issues. The bakery provides a safe working environment for those recovering from mental illness, where they can learn the soft skills and gain the self-confidence necessary on their journey to recovery.
