Full description
A visit to the iconic Westminster Abbey is an essential addition to any trip to London. Boasting a rich history that spans over one thousand years, the site was originally occupied by Benedictine monks in the middle of the tenth century. Here you can feast your eyes on imperious Gothic architecture and some of the most beautiful stained glass in the UK as you explore this monumental site in British history.
See the Coronation Chair, the oldest piece of furniture in the country that is currently used for its original purpose, created for King Edward I in 1296. The throne has played host to the coronation of every single monarch since 1308. Queen Victoria was crowned here, as well as Elizabeth II, the current reigning Queen.

Pay your respects at Poets' Corner, a section of the south transept of the abbey, so-called due to the large amount of writers and poets buried there. Rudyard Kipling, Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy are but a few of the famous wordsmiths who reside here. The corner is also decorated with many memorial stones and busts dedicated to the likes of William Shakespeare and the poet laureate Ted Hughes.

Omg a definite must see site when in London. It’s so filled with history and architecture that you will definitely spend a great deal of time seeing it all. The guides were courteous and although the booking says you may need a printed ticket I got in by scanning my electronic tickets on my phone so that was a relief as we forgot our physical tickets

Beautiful chapel. The audio tour was uber detailed and hard to follow on which pane of window they were talking about. A ipad tour like the Opera Garnier would be much easier to follow and learn about each window you were looking at. A beautiful place you dont want to miss though, regardless of the so so audio tour

Despite having prebooked we still had to wait in a queue to enter but it moved quite quickly. Staff were all very courteous and helpful with distribution of audioguides efficiently handled. Just the right amount of information given, so not overhwelming and leaving plenty of time to look around, dwell or move on at a pace of your choosing, despite being fairly busy.
