Full description
Depart London and travel west to Windsor Castle to explore one of the official residences of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Built high above the River Thames, Windsor Castle has been home to the Royal Family for 900 years. Upon arrival, go to the magnificent State Apartments still used for state occasions and royal receptions. Take some time to explore the castle grounds and the 14th century St. George's Chapel, where you can admire one of the most beautiful examples of medieval church architecture in England. Discover the burial place of kings and queens, including Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour.

Next, go to the standing stones of Stonehenge, still clouded in mystery as an amazing feat of human engineering. Explore the most important prehistoric site in England. Beyond its archaeological significance and possible astronomical role, Stonehenge is also a place of spiritual importance. Early legends link it with Merlin and King Arthur, but over the last 100 years the midsummer sunrise has attracted pagan groups and followers of the Ancient Order of Druids.

Continue to the university city of Oxford, known as "The City of Dreaming Spires." A seat of learning since 1249, it's an idyllic location to explore on a fascinating walking tour. Pass Trinity College, the Sheldonian Theatre and the newly renovated Ashmolean Museum. Go to the Martyr's Memorial and see the Divinity School, made famous by the "Harry Potter" films. Learn why this magical city and its romantic spires has inspired so many writers, including Lewis Carroll, JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis.
