Full description
Explore the history, culture and everyday life of Lisbon on a 3.5-hour walking tour of its historic neighborhoods. Your guide will pick you up from a central city location, on arrangement, and take you through the story of Portugal’s capital, including the 1755 earthquake that nearly destroyed it.

Walk the elegant streets of the Chiado district, ripe with trendy shops and quaint cafés. Go to Municipal Square where the Carnation Revolution of 1974 ended the dictatorship of the right-wing Estado Novo and returned the country to democracy.

Get panoramic views from observation points and at the top of Lisbon's Iron Lift. Take an historic tram, still used by locals to commute up the cobbled streets of Chiado, and wander the narrow lanes of Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood. This is the home of traditional fado music, and you will pass some of the fado restaurants en route to the old Jewish Quarter.

At the end of the tour, taste one of the traditional Pastéis de Nata (Custard Tarts) and a glass of cherry liqueur (ginginha), before ending on Praça do Comércio, one of Europe’s largest and most beautiful squares.
