Brilliant tour from start to finish! The cable car views were amazing! When we got to Ngong ping village, we toured around by ourselves before the tour started! The village itself was vibrant with colors and also very cheap for food and drinks! Our tour guide was moon! She was fantastic and fluent in English! She was very upbeat and made it her mission to make sure we had an amazing tour, the tea demonstration was great and it tasted lovely We then got a quick bus ride to the fishing village of tai-o! It’s amazing to see the vast difference from the city to a small fishing village and how they live! We caught a boat around the village and out to see some pink dolphins, unlucky that we didn’t get to see them nevertheless we headed back to be greeted by noon to show us a fisherman’s house! We also got to try some local food which was lovely! Finally we headed back to Ngong ping village to see the Buddha statue which was breathtaking Overall this excursion is well worth it
A great day out and a pleasant break from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong and just so easy! Picked up from hotel and had short coach transfer to the pier to take the high speed ferry to Lantau. Ben, our knowledgeable and informative guide, accompanied our small group (13) and kept us all together at the various stops around the island. Plenty of time to appreciate (and photograph) the surroundings and stopped off at a nice variety of locations from beach to wandering through a fishing village, temples, buddhist shines, monastery and finishing with a long scenic cable car ride. Lunch at the monastery was very good indeed and unrushed and a good opportunity to talk to other members on the tour. Bus then returned us to our hotels to complete a full circuit at the end of the day. A perfect day out for me and my daughters (late teens) - but I wouldn't recommend it for children or young teens.
The tour is excellent. We paid the extra to ride a crystal cabin and it was worth it. The view is amazing. The scenpgraphy "town" with shows a la Dosney seemed grotesque to me, but fortunately our guide, Becky, took us directly to the monastery and shared with us a lot of knowleg and insight. The viosit to the Tai O village was great, specially the 500 years old taoist temple, walking the streets and the boat tour to watch the pink dolphins. Dinner at the Tai O Heritage was just good, but the place is superb. The small stop on the way back to feel the sand and the sea at a beach at night and see the stars was a very good closing.
A lot of time was spent picking up passengers and changing buses just to get the tour started, but once we made it to Lantau Island we enjoyed the Tai O Fishing Village and the boat trip to see the white dolphins. Loved the lunch at the monestary and seeing the Big Buddha despite the spitting rain and non-working cable car. The guide was only adequate - he could have spent more time while we were traveling telling the group about the history of the island and building the statue. We avoided a long drive dropping off at various hotels by catching the Star Ferry back to Kowloon.
Very well organised trip, small group of 11, our guide Ken was very entertaining, amusing and did an excellent job. We skipped all lines at the cable car and were after lunch transported up to the Budda by bus - no need to take the 200plus stairs. Booked this trip short notice, response time from the tour operator was swift and on point. They provide the exact pick up time via email after booking and drop you off at the hotel after the tour. I definitely recommend this trip.
