What people are saying about La Popa Monastery
This is the BEST way to see the amazing city of Cartagena. We can’t say enough about our wonderful guide, Sandy. He was endlessly knowledgeable - a history teacher who really knows his stuff. In addition, Sandy was incredibly thoughtful; making sure my 87 year old mother in law was comfortable. My family has been on many city tours while cruising and we all agreed this was one of our favorites. Skip the cruise tour and go here you won’t regret it.
Guide was very nice and informative. You do get to see Several areas of cartegena while seeing the main attractions and it was just under 4 hours, just enough time. Not much English was spoken but luckily I understand Spanish fairly well. I did ask for English when I booked it. They were 25 minutes late in picking me up but with the traffic I guess that can be expected. Overall, it was a good tour.
My wife and I had a wonderful time touring and learning about the history of the city. Also, on a 95 degree day, it was also great to be able to do this in the comfort of an air conditioned minibus. Our guide Richard was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He knew all the places for great pictures and did an excellent job of giving the tour in multiple languages.
My tour guide was on time and was had a planned day for us already set any question I had he answered and even recited poems from some of the historical figures he was talking to me about. I can brag enough on how amazing and accommodating my tour guide was. He really knows his stuff!!!! and treated me with so much respect!
Our guide, Hernan, started the tour with a drive to La Popa and we were able to see the city from the top and that gave is a great perspective of what we were going to see next. The fort was nice (so was the refreshment stop at the bottom). Hernan was knowledgeable and super nice.
