What people are saying about La Pieta

Outstanding tour with very knowledgable guide.

Had been to St. Peter's before but not to the necropolis. This is a must-see tour. The guide was very knowledgeable. One tip for the tour. It would have been useful to walk the route of the necropolis tour on the present Basilica level, especially since a portion of the Gaius Trophy is visible in the niche in the Confessio. It would also have been useful to point out the location of the Clementine Chapel from the upper level. These sites got explained while we were touring the necropolis and crypt levels, but it would help first time visitors to point them out from the upper level before going below. Our group toured the basilica first so a spatial orientation to what we would be seeing just a few feet below would have been an easy fit.

Necropolis and St. Peter's Basilica Guided Tour Reviewed by Anonymous, 16/07/2019

Very informative but sound cuts out in stairways and hallways

The tour was very informative and our guide spoke the entire time- also when going through stairways and hallways between the many rooms and as the connection was poor in those places we missed a lot of information every time we changed rooms. He spoke so much that it was hard to ask him to slow down or repeat things we had not heard. But we enjoyed the tour and would definitely do it again. I am not sure why we were told to be at the meeting point 25 minutes ahead of time - no one was waiting for us at that time and the whole group ending up waiting a few minutes after the start time for two people who were late.

Very busy but worth the trip, amazing art and history.

This visit very much depends on how good your guide is and luckily ours was fantastic. Miguel was very knowledgeable and passionate about everything. We had head phones and he talked constantly explaining as we walked, the only issue is that you have to keep up which is tricky when so busy but overall I doubt we could have had a better person showing us around this amazing place. Make sure to pre-book, even thigh you still have to queue 30 minutes is better than 2 hours!!!!

Worth the skip the line and having someone that knows the ins and outs

If you are traveling in the summer getting a tour is worth it! If you are one that thinks you would prefer alone time to see and do this on your own...you still get that time with this tour! It's stress free, just show up and have a local guide get you through and explain some of the history and things you are looking out. Definitely a good value. The line in the summer can be hours long in the heat!

ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT ! ALBERTO IS A GREAT GUIDE !

I AM VERY GLAD I BOOKED THIS TOUR FOR MY TRIP TO ROME, IT WAS A GREAT VALUE, VERY NICE TOUR, WITH AN ABSOLUTELY GREAT GUIDE- HIS NAME WAS ALBERTO, HE WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING, WE DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT IN ANY LINE ALTHOUGH IT WAS CROWDED! VERY WELL ORGANISED AND AGAIN SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR GUIDE FOR MAKING THIS EXPERIENCE SO MEMORABLE! IOANNA & KONSTANTINOS
