Full description
Book this half-day Wieliczka Salt Mine excursion and a professional, English-speaking driver will drive you straight to the site, where a local guide will take you through the historic underground city.

The Wieliczka Salt Mine dates back to medieval times and has a history of around 9 centuries of salt exploitation. The tourist route through the mine is located 135 meters underground, and is accessible by stairs only. It is an absolutely unique place to visit and is a must-see during your stay in Krakow. One of the major benefits of visiting the Salt Mine is the health benefit of its special climate and its micro-element filled air.

There is also the possibility to book Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz Birkenau tour in one day. If this is the case, the tour will last around 11-12 hours. There will be live guides at both museums.

Kamilla our guide in the saltmine was very efficient, witty & enjoyable. Well done to her Mary the guide on the bus was also friendly & helpful. This is really lovely to see, but the steps are challenging - I still have pains in the backs of my legs from the decent!Thankfully there's a quick elevator up & unlike Auschwitz, there is no charge for toilet use

It’s very obvious where the meeting point is as there were a lot of tourists and buses. Unfortunately there were too many people to fit on our bus but a smaller one came just seconds after for us to get on. The tour itself was well organised with time to get a drink/snack before heading into the mines. The initial stairs down are spiralled so we felt quite dizzy at the bottom - I wouldn’t recommend if you have vertigo. Our tour guide was brilliant, she was really funny and was very well informed. There is a break about halfway for the toilet and more drinks or snacks which was great.

It was easy to book and good to have the reminder by email 24 hours before. I found everyone from the man picking us up to our guide to be very efficient. Our guide was very informative but also had a bit of banter and jokes added which was nice. It stops all the information becoming too boring. It was all very professional
