Full description
The Kraków Ghetto was one of 5 major metropolitan Jewish Ghettos created by Nazi Germany during the German occupation of Poland in World War II. It was established for the purpose of exploitation, terror, and persecution of local Polish Jews, as well as the staging area for separating the "abled workers" from those who would later be deemed unworthy of life. The Ghetto was liquidated between June 1942 and March 1943, with most of its inhabitants sent to their deaths at Auschwitz Concentration Camp.

On the basic 3-hour tour option, pass through the streets of ghetto territory, viewing fragments of the ghetto walls. Listen to true stories about everyday life, before entering the synagogue that survived the Second World War and is still functioning. Admire the famous Szeroka Street, seeing the Old Synagogue and the original Schindler’s Factory. You will even be able to see where some scenes of Steven Spielberg’s film Schindler’s List were captured.

Upgrade to the extended 4-hour tour option, and include visits to Kazimierz, the Old Jewish Quarter including Temple, Remuh Old Synagogues and Remuh Cemetery.

Our tour guide was Christina - an older woman with a wealth of knowledge. It has brought us closer to the Jewish tradition and history in connection with the past of the city of Kraków. Whether synagogue, house, bookshop or restaurant - she answered all of our questions and gave a lot of background information. It was a great tour, which we can recommend.

It was worth every penny!

We booked last minute on the evening beforehand via the Internet and received an answer straight away. The very good German speaking guide was on time at the agreed place and immediately started the incredibly interesting tour. We visited everything that is important to us and received important background information that is not in any travel guide. We are happy to have chosen the private tour.
