Full description
Visit the former Nazi concentration camps at Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau on this 7-hour trip from Krakow. By June 1940, Jews and over 700 political criminals had been sent to Auschwitz and the atrocities had begun.

Birkenau was built by Auschwitz prisoners and by October 1941 was used as an extermination camp. Between 1 and 1.5 million were killed, and approximately 90 percent of those killed were Jews.

Before Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated in January 1945, the SS attempted to blow up the camp and destroy the documentation. They were only partially successful, and the Polish government decided to restore the site as a memorial to the victims.

Easy pick up and comfortable minibus. The information film was interesting and the driver (Michael) was lovely. The Auschwitz I tour was excellent with the English-speaking guide giving great facts and stories. Auschwitz-Birkenau II was very sad and poignant but a must. Again the Tour Guide accompanied us throughout. Just a tip, take 2PLN coins with you for the toilets!

The tour made the entire experience so smooth and easy to get to Auschwitz-Birkenau. On the way there a documentary was played which really set the tone for the tour, it was a excellent way to start the trip. The guide was incredibly informative and really emphasised the harrowing and horrifying experience. It was really well organised and a eye-opening journey.

An unforgettable day from start to finish. The guide was knowledgeable and very respectful. A lot of walking and very little time to eat/drink but well worth it. I would highly recommend this tour.
