Full description
Explore the tragic history of World War II and the Holocaust on a 3.5-hour tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Depart Kraków and travel to the town of Oświęcim by comfortable vehicle with an English-speaking driver.

Upon arrival, learn more about the history of the camp at exhibitions that detail how almost 1.3 million people were kept hostage and murdered there. Get an introduction to the origins of the camp, and hear about the everyday life of the prisoners. See the original barracks where they lived and the horrific gas chambers where they were put to death.

Founded in 1947 as a vital reminder of the terrible events, the memorial museum was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and has seen millions of visitors walk through the infamous "Arbeit Macht Frei" gate to take a poignant journey through history.

Guide was excellent.

I would want to add even a 10 minute drive by the town next to auschwitz , but maybe you are not permitted to do that- would be too many tours passing through a residential area? Would also make the tour A little longer - even 40 minutes would have helped. But tour guide was excellent - respectful and compassionate as well as knowledgeable.

Fascinating

Only snag was the pick up point was not clear and there was no indicators anywhere showing where we were meant to stand. Was stressful and we had to ask a few people as were standing on a corner and it was getting later and later. The actual mini bus when it arrived across the road had blacked out windows and nothing to say where it was going and no-one to meet us we had just about given up hope. A girl then arrived but had nothing to say she was our tour guide. Please let the tour operators know that it would have been less stressful if they had had a sign on the pick up point to let us know we had got the right place. It is just too vague for people who have just arrived. Also their phone didn't answer when we tried to get in touch. Disappointing start to our visit to Karkow.

Excellent tour and superb guide

Booked this trip before we travelled and so glad we did so. Camille our guide was superb , the visit was interesting and in some parts emotionally challenging & difficult due to the subject matter being discussed. However the tour was faultless , pick up was a little late but transport was good though a bit cramped , and commentary and video were very informative.
