It has always been our belief that tasting the local street food is as important as visiting historical monuments if one needs to understand the culture of a place. Thus, we booked this tour hoping to get a glimpse of the wonderful Turkish cuisine that we had heard so much about before. Çetin saw to it that we were given the royal treatment. His insights into the Turkish cuisine, it's history and influences from other neighbouring cuisines were fascinating. We were planning before to do such a tour on our own, but knowing what to order is one thing and knowing where to order it from is a completely different prospect. Çetin took us to some of the best local street food vendors and restaurants in the Kadiköy area and made us sample some of the most scrumptious foods one can imagine. Walking through the streets of Kadiköy was a literal assault on the senses with a multitude of sights, sounds and smell wafting out from all corners and Çetin guided us through each and everyone of them.

ADNAN (guide) met me in good time for the start of the tour outside the spice bazaar. I was the only one on the tour, so I had a private tour. This made it easy to negotiate the busy ferry ride, and the busy streets both in Kadikoy and on our return in Karakoy. Adnan was knowledgeable about the food culture and it was very interesting being on the Asian side of Istanbul and being able to compare the culinary experience with a similar tour on the European side. We sampled a variety of local dishes and we drank Aryan. The market section of the streets we wandered through were wonderful and conducive to making purchases :), and the eateries were filled with diners despite it being Ramadan. This tour is a great way to be introduced to some of Turkey's cuisine and to orientate oneself regarding the physical environment on the Asian side. We finished it off with some fabulous dessert and a magical ferry ride back to Karakoy. Worth doing.

Delicious fascinating educational and fun!

Salih was an excellent guide - great taste and suggestions, very informative on food, culture, history. Very flexible - we got lost in way to meeting point and he came to find us, helped us find an open shop needed on our way home. And in the middle - such an experience! Loved the walk and ferry, market tastes and history, pickles, mussels, pastrami, cheese - all delicious! And then dinner was perfect - really gave us a sampling of so many wonderful flavors that we wouldn’t have been able to find for ourselves. And we were stuffed! But still managed to find room for baklava and ice cream afterward. Only downside is no liquor license at restaurant. Highly recommended.

Dream tour aka amazing night out in Kadikoy

I can't even explain how much I enjoyed this "tour". Lucky for me I was the only one booked, so it was just me and my amazing guide, Cetin. It was my first night in Istanbul and this tour was the perfect introduction to the food, culture and history of the city. The food I tried was INCREDIBLE and the number of restaurants we visited was extremely generous. I would recommend this tour for anyone visiting Istanbul. I'll be back to do it again. Thanks again Cetin. This experience felt more like a night out with a friend!

Our guide Cetin was outstanding. He took us to so many places we never would have found on our own. We tried an endless variety of local foods that we would never have known to order by ourselves and left very full. It was also a great way to venture out and discover the Asian side of Istanbul. Highly recommend!
