Head to the historic state of Fuente del Suero in Andalusia to see the world’s best known stock of Cartujano horses. From ancient times, these noble beasts played an important role in Spanish culture, and the Yeguada de la Cartuja stud farm, next to the Monastery of La Cartuja, is the perfect location to breed them, thanks to the climate and fertile lands.

The region was made famous when the Carthusian Monastery became the undisputed center for breeding Jerezano horses in the 15th century. The tradition has continued uninterrupted to this day, and the stud farm boasts more than 200 of the thoroughbreds.

You will taken on a guided tour of the farm to learn about its dedication to the preservation and improvement of the Cartujano breed. See free running colts and mares, free running stallions, a dressage exhibition, the current batch of foals, and more

Fantastic

This was the highlight of my weeks holiday. I expected to love it as I adore horses but even my husband agreed it was our best day out. The place is a little way out but I would tell everyone not to be put off by this. We went in a taxi and they phoned one for us at the end of the show. It lasts 2 hours and is just fabulous, all of it,with hands on horses to the show itself. The staff were lovely and the English guide,Viv was excellent. The only sad thing is I will probably never go again but I will never forget that day and the beautiful horses.

If your interested in horses this is well worth the trip.

Great experience seeing these beautiful horses. We had a lovely guide who explained the history of the area and horses. After about an hour we then sat down and watched a show which I thought was excellent and a welcome break from the sun. A thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours and well worth the trip.

This was a great activity that was easy to book on line.

This was a very well organized tour of the horse farm plus an interesting and varied show. I was especially interested in how they care for the horses and the breeding program. I loved seeing this year's babies, as well as the yearlings and mares. The show included riding and driving skills, and the mares and foals, so it showed many facets of the farm.
