What people are saying about HMS Caroline
Flexible attitude on the part of the organizers means that the 48-hour ticket can with negotiation be split over three days with the ticket not being used on the middle day very useful if you've booked a tour out of the city for that middle day. There was not much info given on the tour bus about each stop on the tour so you had to have obtained information about each stop elsewhere in order to decide where to get off on the route traveled by the bus. Most of the city center sights were mentioned, I found the most useful the one which allowed access to the tourist information office, there you found the data with which to choose the places to see that were on the tour. It is a pity that there is no post office for public use in the Stormont Parliament buildings that would enhance the visitor experience perhaps the tour operators could make that suggestion! Advertising restaurants that have been closed, on the bus, is a waste of time, it would be better to have current flyers available.
I enjoyed the tour generally. Two things bothered me a bit. One is that I thought we would see more murals and the other is that the tour was supposed to last up to 8 p.m. but instead we arrived back by 6 p.m. so we had only two hours in Belfast city centre instead of four. One more: we were about to meet at 8 a.m. at Molly Malone. I arrived by 7.40 and about a minute later our guide appeared and took us to another street where the bus was parked. I don't know how I could have found the bus if I had arrived, say, by 7.43.
The hop-on hop-off bus is a great way to see the city. It also provides discounts to many of the sites. The guides are knowledgeable and sometimes offer a bit of humor with their history. I was able to get everywhere I needed to go. One caution: there is another hop-on company, so getting the right bus can be confusing.
To me the visit to HMS Caroline was more enjoyable than the Titanic experience perfect restoration and very informative. Staff very helpful and friendly a pleasure to visit. A must see in Belfast!
Enjoyablev tour and well worth money quite sombre at times going through the Shankill and the falls and the prison. Titanic was also a great visit and enjoyed the market. Would strongly recommend.
