Planning Your Heidelberg Visit

Get away from the crowd

For a relaxing experience locals enjoy, try a spa/schwimmbad in Heidelberg. Pools, saunas and steamrooms will soak your worries away, although foreigners should check websites to find out exactly how 'German' the experience will be. Some won't allow swimwear.

Eat like a king

For a quick taste of Germany try a currywurst – the nation's best fast food – especially after a few good beers. Ask for "ohne darm" (without skin) for an authentic experience, and soak up your sauce "mit pommes" (with fries).

What people are saying about Heidelberg

Such a great trip, so good we decided to add another

This tour was so great. Honestly, Willy was the best tour guide ever. He was funny and charismatic, and knew like everything about German history, current German culture, and the history of the town we went to. He was so engaging. We went by bus to Heidelberg, and walked around the town and then he brought us up to the castle. He was so good my friend and I were sold on going on the tour they had that evening, to a wine tasting and cruise on the Rhine. The weather was terrible, but I'm glad we went, and he was our guide again for that tour. When I come back, which is hopefully soon, I will absolutely do a tour with them again, and hopefully we will get him as a tour guide. ~Kristen B.

Great evening tour with exciting stories and views of the city!

Our worldwide team met in Heidelberg for a bi-annual meeting and we wanted to spend a little time getting to know the city. We booked the tour for after dinner (9pm) which allowed us to walk off some of the amazing German food we consumed. We hit several historic sites and learned a great deal of history while capturing some spectacular photos of the castle and bridge at night. Everyone enjoyed the tour and the time together as a group. I would recommend this tour for any small to medium group (we had 10 people) as it worked well to be able to hear the guide at all times. Overall, our guide was knowledgable and we would recommend this for any visitor to the city.

Great customer service and knowledgeable staff hands down!!!

We booked our tour well in advance for two people and even though the other six of the group did not show there was no lacking in the services we received. Plenty of time was taken to be sure we were comfortable with the Segway and then we were off for the grand tour. The guide was great to ask if we wanted the historical tour or just to drive the Segway. We opted for the historic tour however were not disappointed with the Segway driving either. It was truely an all around great experience for my wife and I. Thank you very much!!!!

Small tour filled with unique facts about Heidelberg

The tour I attended was part of a small group (there were 4 of us total, including our guide Patricia). This style of tour is one I prefer, as you are not part of a massive group like the other touring companies we encountered at Schloss Heidelberg. We had a chance to walk around the town centre as well as by the old bridge, and briefly listened to the organ being played during mass at the Protestant church.

The castle is magical and our guide (Olga) was so knowledgeable

The Heidelberg castle is a magical place, full of so much history, but we'd never had the full experience of knowledge and understanding of its history had it not been for Olga, our guide. She provided a great tour, in English, with great historical insights. I highly recommend this tour and Olga as your guide.
