What people are saying about Hanoi

Trip to make but one night is good enough

We had a good crew and a good boat to make this journey. Started with the pick up in Hanoi which was as indicated. After 3 hrs of driving thru major traffic we arrived in Halong Bay and it was raining like most days. Dont expect to see the sun too many times. We embarked on the boat along with few other people but also with 20 other boat companies at the same time. It reminded me of a cattle ranch. The crew was very good and pleasant thru this journey providing lots of information but the timing is calculated so you get to complete activities such as kayak, visit a cave ( very little to see) and the next day seeing an old village. Overall this is a nice trip to do and you dont need to pay lots of money because you dont have time to enjoy the nice bed. Food was good for all 3 meals except for the coffee, which in Vietnam is always strong. Paloma is one of the better companies to try but overall, a little expensive for what we got compared to staying in a nice hotel in Hanoi.

Good staff, beautiful tour but not 5 stars

We had a very pleasant tour, a luxurious bus picked us up at our hotel in Hanoi and drove us to Halong Bay. On the tour we had plenty of time to se the wonderful environment, went kayaking and visited some caves. Our guide and the staff made a terrific job; they were all very friendly and helpful. An extra star to the chef who was really engaged teaching a four year old girl how to make spring rolls during the cooking class. Two things could be better: The food was not that flavoursome that we have experienced the rest of our three week trip in Vietnam. It would be better to serve fewer courses and make it really good instead of serving eight average courses in every meal. But the fallen star came with the jacuzzi: if you sell a five star tour and include a bath tub in the cabin you have to offer water. After 30 minutes of tapping I had 12 centimetres of water on the bottom of the tub and then the tap stopped. Really poor.

Bai Tu Long Bay: 2-Day 5-Star Cruise with Kayak Reviewed by Daniel, 29/12/2018

Great cruise, fun activities and nice crew

The cruise is really fun and worth the money. You can get picked up from your hotel to be taken to the boat house. From there you enter the boat, checking in to your room first. Then you’ll have lunch and after lunch you have activities like kayaking and cave exploring. ‘Sunset party’ afterwards with happy hour. After that there is dinner followed by squid fishing (nobody caught anything our night). The morning starts with tai chi lessons and breakfast. After breakfast you go visit the fishing village, which isn’t that spectacular. The boat ride is nice but the village itself is nothing remarkable. The trip is concluded with making your own spring roll and lunch. The trip was lots of fun, the activities were nice and fun and the crew was always friendly and there to help.

Fabulous cruise and Ha Long Bay is stunning!!!

This is a wonderful cruise and really shows the stunning beauty of Ha Long Bay. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly and all the staff were very nice and helpful. The cabins were clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and catered to all tastes including vegans. We thoroughly enjoyed all the trips to the caves, fishing village and pearl farm. My teenagers and I, especially enjoyed the evening kayaking trip. It was fun and the scenery was beautiful.

great scenery but you need good weather to appreciate it

The trip overall was good. Good accommodation and food. The crew were very attentive but the guides tended to overload you with too much information and their English could have been better. We missed the sunset because the boat was anchored in the wrong place. A little bit of foresight could have avoided this and they could have used the small boats to ferry people to a suitable viewing point.
