Beautiful building and incredibly moving

The building is beautiful and is very different to other synagogues globally. The tours go from inside the synagogue itself (just find the language flag and take a seat). It’s well worth doing the tour. There are also some very moving memorials to the holocaust victims, survivors and those who risked their lives helping. The museum is larger than expected. Well worth the visit.

Priveleged to have visited the second largest synagogue in the world.

Interesting museum artefacts and an educational lesson into Jewish culture and customs. The ghetto garden was particularly sad yet provoked much reflection. On a previous visit to Budapest, had seen the "silver tree" from outside (as were staying in the Jewish quarter) without understanding its significance. Very glad to have entered this very special place this time.

Excellent visit and very touching museum and history

We were really surprised by this visit; we learned some history of the Nazi occupation of Budapest that we didn't know. We arrived early at 0930 and were the first people allowed in at 1000. We did the tour on our own as we were on a time crunch to see other things in Budapest. But we highly recommend going to this Synagogue.

Interesting tour, but not a walking tour

This tour incorporated an interesting whistle-stop tour of the Jewish Museum, The Dohany Synagogue, cemetery and Holocaust memorial site. The tour guides were knowledgeable and educated in their topics and we were pleased we joined a tour, The tour was not a walking tour and the title was misleading.

Nice overall tour. Find the flag of your language to get explaintion.

Crowds but good. Go in main chapel to find flag for your language and a knowledgeable guide with give you overview of history and lead you to other areas. Museums are very interesting and show life and death. Could spend four hours if viewing all the exhibits.
