Full description
After driving from Glasgow, on the banks of the Firth of the Forth you will find the impressive Blackness Castle. This 15th century fortress in the series makes Fort William Barracks of Black Jack Randall, in addition to the jail where Jamie is imprisoned. After Blackness Castle, visit Linlithgow Palace, which acts as the Wentworth Prison in the series. Spend 2 hours and have lunch in Linlithgow. After Linlithgow, spend one hour at Doune Castle.

This castle plays a prominent role in the series, replacing the fictional Castle Leoch, home of Colum MacKenzie and his clan in the eighteenth century. It also appears in the first episode during the 20th century when Claire and Frank visit the ruined castle on a day trip. Keep in mind that during the winter it will not be possible to visit it internally for the reduced hours of the tourist attraction.

Continue to Falkland, where you can recreate one of the first scenes of the television series, which represents the city of Inverness in the 1940s (T1) and 1960 (T2). The Covenanter Hotel replaces the cozy Mrs. Baird's Guesthouse; Bruce's source is where Jamie's ghost looks into Claire's room; Fayre Earth Gift Shop also works as Farrell's Hardware and Furniture Store; and Campbell's Coffee House and Eatery is Campbell's Coffee Shop in the series.

Crossing the Firth of the Forth, end the tour with a walk the streets of the picturesque village of Culross. It is a unique example of what a city in Scotland would have looked like during the 17th and 18th centuries. The area of the city of Mercat Cross is transformed into the fictional village of Cranesmuir where Geillis lives, and behind the impressive Palace of Culross is where Claire's herb garden is located in the Leoch Castle (T1). The city also lends its backdrop to the Jacobite camp and improvised hospital scenes (T2). The tour ends here at 6:30 PM. Return to Glasgow by 7:00 PM.
