What people are saying about Frederiksborg Palace
Our guide was well informed, amusing, and my daughter and I enjoyed the visit very much. British tourists are into Danish TV series and interesting remarks could be included in the audio guide. For example, North Sealand area featured in "The Killing" ("Forbrydelsen"), and I believe in many other Danish TV series. Furthermore, the British tourists would be interesting to hear about Anne of Denmark (the second daughter of King Frederick II of Denmark) who married King James I's . Their residence in London, from 1603, Somerset House, was named 'Denmark House' in her honour. The history of Somerset House (taxing system, etc.) is very similar to Fredensborg's. Check the website https://www.somersethouse.org.uk/history The only problem was that coffee break was not planned! If the tour has to be 7 hours instead of 6.5, but with coffee/tea break before entering Hamlet's castle, that has to be done.
This tour is a must do while in Denmark. It might feel costly, but it's a live history lesson for a day, so it is worth it. You will see the VIking's Ship Museum, a place that not only holds five ancient Viking ships (thus the name) but it also has a workshop where skilled workers build new Viking ships modeling the old techniques and materials. You will see the Rosklide Cathedral, a gorgeous cathedral which remains the focal point for all major events involving Danish royals (weddings, baptisms, burials....). In addition to touring the Hamlet's Castle, you will also visit the Fredericksborg Palace which must be one of the more beautiful historic monuments in the world. From the beautiful art, to antique furniture, to vast gardens -- it truly has everything to enchant you. My favorite -- the old church. It is simply lovely. I truly recommend this tour.
Fantastic venue for the day with all the sites. Perfect if you only have a day to see as much as possible and the peak points. Note to guide....... his voice doesn't carry very far and hard to hear so always use the VAN speaker when talking to the group in the VAN. Also....... if Departure time is 9:30AM the bus should leave at 9:30AM for those on time and not wait for those that are late. Because the bus waited almost 20 minutes for 3 additional late people we had to rush through the Viking Museum with only 40 minutes so see it all and not nearly enough time.
Since I only had a couple days in Copenhagen this tour was really great for me to be able to get out of Copenhagen and see a bit more of what Denmark had to offer and it was well worth it. We saw a lot of nice things and I like to shoot videos and got lots of great footage. The only thing that was annoying is that I am tall (about 6 feet) and the seats in the bus were quite small, my back was resting on part of the neck rest while driving around. Luckily the rides were always under 50 minutes so it wasn't too bad. Great tour!
Felt a bit rushed, but easy way to visit two castles in one day and take in the beautiful Danish Coast. There is also a photo stop at a third castle, but I wish they had eliminated that to allow more time at the other two, which are much more impressive. Guide was great and very knowledgeable about the history. Sandwiches available for purchase onboard, including one vegetarian option.
