Full description
Escape the hustle and bustle of Florence and experience the heart of Tuscany by visiting the enchanting Val D’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the beautiful towns of Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano and enjoy two different wine tastings and savour the famous Pecorino cheese!

The tour starts with a wine tasting session in Montalcino, the land of the world-renowned Brunello wine. Here you will be enchanted by the outstanding charm of a special and definitely worth visiting wine cellar/museum. The estate has a rich history: it once belonged to the powerful Piccolomini family, whose members included Pope Pius II.

Next you move up to the peak of the town, where a magnificent sight will take your breath away: sunny rolling hills, ancient oaks, picturesque olive groves, scenic country roads winding through perfect vineyards and isolated cypress trees atop hills.

The tour continues to Pienza, which stands high upon a hill and dominates all the Orcia valley with extraordinary views. Enjoy the cheese tasting session with the famous Pecorino cheese (included in the tour!) and explore the pretty alleyways of this small town at your leisure.

The last stop takes you to Montepulciano, home to the famous Vino Nobile vineyards and more recently famous for the filming of the vampire movie "New Moon". Enjoy your second wine tasting session while visiting the dungeon where the wine is stored under the ancient walls of the winery, before heading back to Florence.

Great way to spend a day in Tuscany with a lovely international group. We were really lucky as it was the first day the sun came out for awhile so it was absolutely beautiful! The wine tastings were both very different and you get to learn a lot about each wine. Valentina was our guide and our driver was Lorenzo. They worked so hard guiding in both Spanish and English and everything ran so smoothly. We had more than enough time at all three cities and were on our way back to Florence just as the sun set for the day.

Great full day tour

Overall we were happy with the Val D’Orica tour. We were a party of two on a bus of about 25-30 people. Our tour guide Giulio and driver Antonio were great! Our tour took us to Montalcino, Pienza and then Montepulciano and we got free time at each stop. In Montalcino and Montepulciano we were taken to a winery for a tasting of two wines (four in total). We also got a small cheese tasting of pecorino in Pienza and a truffle oil tasting in Montepulciano. A few ladies on our tour were not happy with the amount of walking we had to do. Keep in mind these are hilltop medieval towns so the big bus can’t take you all the way into the centre so there are a few short walks and steps, nothing extremely strenuous but just to be aware. We were happy with the tour and amount of time we got in each spot considering there was so much we had to fit in and with so many people.

It was one of the best trip ever! the guide Constantino is amazing, we really enjoyed his stories, it wasn't like if we were reading enciclopedia but real lively stories based on historical facts. Perefct timing- enough free time in eaxh town, no needed to follow the guide all the time. The driver Cornello made our trip safe and comfortable. Thank you ciaoflorence!
