Full description
Begin the tour at Giraldo Square, the living center of Évora, full of architectural styles, from Moorish arches lined up in the Square, to the fountains of the Renaissance and the Gothic church of São Francisco. Enjoy some free time to taste a regional sweet.

Then head to one of the major landmarks in Portugal, the Roman temple, also known as the Temple of Diana. Its powerful front with 14 columns in well-preserved granite astonishes those who see it for the first time. Next, you can explore the Bones Chapel if you wish. For some people, it is a dark place, for others a fascinating space consisting of hundreds of skulls and skeletons from about 5000 monks of the sixteenth century. There are also two intact corpses exposed in the chapel, so it is not a visit for sensitive people.

At lunchtime, dine in one of the best Evora restaurants. Then go to the Cathedral of Evora, a Roman-Gothic church from the XIII century where you can climb the tower and get a breathtaking view of the city and the fields surrounding it.

With its unique climate conditions, the vineyards of the region produce some of the best Portuguese wines. You will go to a farm where you can taste the best Alentejo has to offer. On the way back to Lisbon stop in Arraiolos and marvel at its magnificent castle wall and the famous carpets of Arraiolos. You can see firsthand how they are manually produced and grab yourself a souvenir.

A very nice and fun day with the guide João!

We made a very nice trip to Évora, our sicerone, João, was very kind to us, made us feel very comfortable in the city. Maybe because it is Sunday, we could not enter the castle of Arraiolos, just saw outside and visited a street with carpet crafts, we had so much fun!

Relaxing day in Evora

I enjoyed a wonderful trip to Evora with my wife. The private tour included the drive from Lisbon to Evora and back in the Renault Espace (crossing the 25 de Abril and Vasco da Gama bridges) + a 30 EUR lunch voucher for both. In the rest of the time we managed to visit on our own the most important sights in Evora (Cathedral of Evora, Roman Temple, Bones Chapel, Igreja da Graça, University, Praça do Giraldo and the surroundings). The driver/guide Cesario was very nice and professional. We talked in English/Spanish/Portuguese and he explained along the way about the places and people of Portugal. Thanks for the great memories!

Guide Ricardo arranged it all!

Private driver came right on time. We stopped at the menhirs of visited the church and the chapel of bones. There was a misunderstanding about the lunch. After the meal we got a bill, but we payed for a tour with lunch. So we thought it was included. Luckily Ricardo payed the full amount for 5 people and was willing to arrange it with 'Get your guide'. After lunch we got time for the cathedral and the temple. On our way back to Lisbon we could taste the Muscadel-wine in Sétubal. An alternative could be: to visit the coast overthere?
