Full description
Tour the Scottish Highlands and explore the Isle of Skye on a 3-day guided tour from Edinburgh. You’ll see castles, craggy mountains, picturesque towns, and maybe even a monster on this excursion. Stay overnight in B&B accommodation.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: A Spectacular Route North
On the way to Skye your route takes you past beautiful Stirling Castle, across the brooding expanse of Rannoch Moor, and through Glen Coe. As you near the coast, you’ll see Eilean Donan Castle (optional tour available), which was featured in the film Highlander. Cross the bridge to Skye.
Overnight stay on the Isle of Skye.

Day 2: A Full Day on Skye
You'll have the full day to explore the Isle of Skye. If you like, you can take it nice and easy but still see all the sights. Highlights include the the craggy Cuillin Mountains, the dramatic hills of the Quiraing, and stunning Trotternish Peninsula. You might see seals out in the waves as you walk along the coast, or a stag standing on a hillside. You will then enjoy an overnight stay on the Isle of Skye.

Day 3: Monster Spotting on Loch Ness
After you leave the island stop at Eilean Donan Castle you will then head to Loch Ness. You can take a boat tour to Urquhart Castle, or you could also do a bit of monster hunting from the shore.

As you head back to Edinburgh, your route will take you through Inverness, the Cairngorms, and Pitlochry. At the Culloden battlefield, the site of the defeat of the Jacobites, there is the option of taking a tour. Continue on through the stunning Cairngorm Mountains and stop to explore the picturesque town of Pitlochry.

Wonderful!

The tour was definitely fantastic! It was my first time to visit Scotland and I could spent so amazing days in the highland areas. Our tour guide was very attentive, well organized, informative, friendly and did a great job throughout the tours. I was impressed how the 3 days went well with full of wonderful experiences. Accommodation was good, food was good, needless to say, landscape was magnificent. I loved Scotland more than I did before I had joined the tour. Overall, the tour was great and definitely worth taking!

Beautiful journey with a knowledgeable guide

We were so pleased with this tour. Rory was an excellent guide, and we were glad to have his guidance and oversight of the itinerary, as we wouldn’t have known where to go. He took us to so many places of such breathtaking beauty and to many others that for various other reasons were lovely to experience. We were worried about doing a tour instead of driving ourselves, as we wanted some independence, but in the end the guidance was worth it, and there was still plenty of time to be on our own and to focus on the beautiful scenery around us instead of on driving. I 100% recommend.

We really enjoyed our trip to Isle of Skye.

Paul T was our guide and he was well organized, punctual, safe driver (those single lane roads are scary!) and informative and entertaining with his stories and anecdotes. We lucked out with great weather, which enhanced the experience. There was a lot of driving. I would opt to do a 5-day rather than 3-day trek to spread out the driving a bit.
