Full description
Combining history, humor and horror, you walk will end inside the Covenanter’s Prison, a locked section of a 16th-century walled cemetery. This is the lair of the "McKenzie Poltergeist", which is now the best-documented paranormal case in history. As well as receiving massive national and international television and newspaper coverage, the McKenzie Poltergeist is the subject of an acclaimed book, "The Ghost That Haunted Itself", of which signed copies will be available after the tour. Since your tour company has the only access to the prison, they have been able to record all of the "attacks" on visitors there. So far there have been over 900, including 180 people who have been knocked unconscious. Researched and designed by best-selling historical author and award winning novelist J A Henderson, these walks combine the weirdest stories, wickedest humor, and the wildest history.

This was a great tour with amusing/'scary' stories that are based on historical facts. Grant was creepy in a sexy way, which added to the allure of the storytelling. If it wasn't raining, it would have been a perfect way to spend some time in a beautifully haunting place. Having access to a locked part of the graveyard was an added bonus. I would recommend this company and this tour.

Very interesting piece of history, but not scary.

Look, I did not expect McKenzie to come and dance for us like a little trained monkey...but having said that. This was not the least unsettling at all, and Greyfriars Kirkyard is really a quiet and cozy place on a late summer evening. As a historical tour however, this was easily worth 5 stars, in particular because of the guide, Charlie from Orkney, who is a gifted storyteller indeed. This has really sparked my interest for similar experiences. Maybe even in my own home town.
