Full description
Experience the Taieri Gorge Railway and Otago Peninsula in one day on a fully guided tour. Be picked up from your central accommodation or from Port Chalmers. Your tour begins at the Dunedin Historic Railway Station, built in 1906.

Climb aboard the Taieri River Gorge train and travel in a historic wooden train carriage along the course of the Taieri River. Enjoy spectacular views as you travel through narrow tunnels, along sharp curves, over deep ravines and through the Taieri River Gorge. Arrive at Pukerangi where you can stretch your legs and enjoy magnificent views before the return train journey.

The second half of the day continues with an exploration of Otago Peninsula’s rugged coastline. Marvel at rare wildlife sightings, discover stunning scenery and enjoy incredible photo opportunities. Take a short walk to a wildlife reserve to look for New Zealand sea lions and fur seals. Then return to the city via the low road, weaving in and out of bays, and through villages and communities. The tour concludes with your return to your accommodation or Port Chalmers around 4:15 PM.
