Reach the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum by car or taxi, located only 16 km south of Heraklion. Begin exploring the exhibits which will teach you about the life and the work of one of the most important modern writers in Greece and Europe, Nikos Kazantzakis.
See manuscripts and notes by the author, samples of his correspondence with major thinkers, politicians, and authors of his time. Marvel at the first editions of his works in Greek and other languages, alongside rare photographic material, and souvenirs from his travels. Admire his personal effects, models, costumes and other material from theatre productions of his works in Greece and abroad as well as portraits and sculptures of the author and dozens of foreign-language editions of his works from all over the world.
The museum brings alive the memory of Nikos Kazatzakis and promotes his work and personality. Since its opening, the museum has organized many national and international conferences, special music, theatrical events and exhibitions in Crete and abroad - all dedicated to Nikos Kazantzakis life, work and influence on and by the contemporary and modern intelligentsia.
