On August 14, 2018 we joined the "Lake District Tour from Manchster", organised by Mountain Goat Tours & Holidays. We had booked the tour online from “Get Your Guide”. The tour started at 9 AM and lasted around 7 PM. Our first stop was at the tourist office of the organizers at Windermere, a small but beautiful railway station. Next stop was at hill top and then visited Beatrix Potter's 17th-century farmhouse and gardens. Potter a writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist best known for her children's books featuring animals, such as those in The Tale of Peter Rabbit. She is credited with preserving much of the land that now constitutes the Lake District National Park. Lunch time was at a village Hawkshead , famous for its Old Grammar School where William Wordsworth was a student. Finally, but not the least, the cruise in lake Windermere. All in all it was a lifetime experience. The whole tour was well organized and our guide Carl and Mathew mesmerized everybody p
We could not have imagined a more knowledgeable and accommodating guide as Phil. He tailored our tour to meet our specific interests in literary figures. His pleasure in sharing his unique details of the authors’ biographies and their creative processes brought their lives and their contributions to our culture alive for us. We recommend him to anyone who wants their experience to live on.
Driver was on time with his arrival and was very pleasant. Took us up gorgeous mountain tops from where we could view sensational views. 8 hour tour was broken up with well planned stops. A tour to be remembered and recommended. A flat tyre at end of tour delayed us 1 hour, but given the rocky terrain at top of hills, understandable.
Our guide Derrick was extremely knowledgeable, kind, entertaining and a safe driver through the narrow passages. We learned a great deal about the area, saw breathtaking scenery and had an absolutely enjoyable experience.
A really great day but the return back to Manchester was very uncomfortable in an unairconditioned and squished van! The trip would have been a 10 out of 10 but this ride home was really uncomfortable and unpleasant,
