What people are saying about Chatham
Amazing to see the small set areas that seem so large when watching “Call the Midwife”. A real insight into the making of parts of this wonderful series. Our tour guide dressed as a midwife from days gone by enhanced our enjoyment and her photo box was good to remind us of the parts she was talking about at different parts of the site. Sadly it was torrential rain so we were drenched after the 90 mins and unable to enjoy any of the other displays so it made it an expensive activity but that is hardly your fault. Hope we will be able to visit again in the future and fingers crossed we might be lucky enough to see actual filming happening.
A very good visit and a very interesting and informative tour with a very good guide and the most important thing was that my wife really enjoyed the whole day as she is a avid watcher of call the midwife and she has watched every single episode on TV and she has got most of the books just a shame the photo album the guide showed us is not available to buy in the shops but may be it will be available in the future if so she will be getting one Mr Colin David Murch.
It was a very interesting tour no film sets at all though but lots of the buildings thst are used in call the midwife were good to see. Was a windy day but still very enjoyable, not sure how it would have been if had been raining, as apart from a short stop inside it was all outside.
this tour gives a very good insight into the ways that TV companies make the best use of the sites that are as close to the original period as possible. The quality of the guides are very important in getting this across, coupled with a sense of humour.
The tour was brilliant the lady was full of knowledge and told the story brilliantly. I will recommend this tour to anyone even if you are not a die hard fan. We even had my 3 week old grandbaby with us and they accommodated her brilliantly.
