We were traveling with our guide Enrico, in a jeep, a total of 5 people including a guide. It is a bit cramped in the back for 3 people in a jeep, but still okay, you shouldn't take a lot of luggage with you. Very dear and helpful guide, although the tour was actually no longer carried out by the local provider on October 27th, as the off-season, they put in another day for us. Enrico speaks English very well, and has really spoken extensively about Mount Etna, and answered other questions about Sicily in a very competent and funny way. The visit to the farm was okay, very good products to try and buy, honey is highly recommended, some glasses went along;) The visit to the lava caves was very interesting and impressive. It was raining heavily on the way to the mountain, the higher we got, the more the gray lifted, and we could finally experience a breathtaking sunset! TOP !!

The trip was very nice seeing many volcano craters , ash and lava, and the parts of the villages which has been destroyed. At 2000 meters height the temperature dropped from 28 to around 7 degrees centigrade so you should have heavy jacket. The tour guide was very nice and informative. We witnessed successive explosions at one of the craters with its mushroom like black fumes. We visited a volcano cave , it was not difficult to get in or out of it. The farm we stopped by was a nice experience to taste different products and for sure you are going to buy honey herbs or wine The two back seats in the 4/4 car was not comfortable if you are tall it would be a problem.

Enrico picked us up at the hotel, we did not have to wait in the blazing sun in some crowded plaza. He was kind and polite. The jeep is pretty beat up and uncomfortable in the back. Two generous South African men volunteered to sit in the very back, so the 4 women can sit more comfortably. Despite the narrow streets weaving through the villages on the way up, and Enrico's ample gestures that punctuated his explanations (with hands off the steering wheel) he managed to keep the jeep under control and get us to each stop safely. His explanations were good. He was kind and knowledgeable. The stop at the lava tube was good. At 2K meters the views were amazing, there were quite a few people, taking pictures without tourists in your frame is pretty hard. Nevertheless, the experience is unique. Worth it.
