We had a great day with our guide who was knowledgeable and friendly. The scenery and views from Chapmans Peak and the drive to Cape Point was fantastic and the boat trip to the fur seals was a nice extra. We also had an outstanding seafood lunch at the Seaforth restaurant at Boulders Bay, though this was much later than usual due to all the things we packed into the day. The only disappointment we that we ran so late we didn’t have time to take the penguins tour at Boulders Bay and had to settle for the public boardwalk which was still ok with close proximity to penguins but we had really set our hearts on the beach front walk here because of our children. Managing the time better would have avoided this disappointment but overall still a recommended tour with much to enjoy.
If your main focus is drinking wine, we can only recommend you this wine tasting tour! In total you get to taste at least 22 different wines in 4 different estates. Tania is a great tour guide and we enjoyed our time to the fullest. She was very knowledgeable and super fun! If you want to see more of the regions as well, then you probably need to book another one with less visits. As you get tastings on 4 vineyards, you drive from tasting to tasting, but don't really have much time to spend to see the villages. We addressed already that we would not go back to one of the estates as none of our group enjoyed their wine, but we also understand that everyone's taste is different. The place although is absolutely beautiful!
You get picked up very early (5:15 am) to drive to Gaansbai, where you get a quick breakfast and an introduction to the upcoming trip. Then you board the boat and after ca. 25 min arrive at the anchor point. On board you change into the diving suits and then the first group of people go into the cage. Water was very cold and you don’t see very far. What you see in the end depends very much on your luck: for me personally, it was a rather disappointing experience though others on the same trip did get to see more sharks. If you don’t mind this „gamble“ I‘d recommend going.
I remember the dreadful days of apartheid and reading about the sentences given to brave people who fought for basic civil rights in their own homeland. I’m proud that an Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke, was instrumental in the embargoes that helped finally break this hideous regime. Mandela was but one of the heroic souls who endured and the wives and children knew tremendous suffering too. A sobering, saddening but ultimately inspiring experience.
Pick up directions unclear, said pick up at 11:15. We waited until 11:35 and the Ubered to the port. Driver called us at 11:40 and said he was at our hotel and that the pick Up time was 11:15 to 11:45. Very confusing. But eventually straightened out and didn’t harm the overall experience.
