Experience

Highlights
  • Experience the grace and magnificence of one of nature's most fearsome predators
  • Enjoy 3 hours at sea learning about sharks and marine life from a shark expert
  • Look back on your day's experience thanks to the on board camera man
Full description
You will be picked up from your Cape Town or Hermanus hotel in a luxury, air-conditioned bus, which will take you to the local partner's facilities opposite the harbour slipway. Enjoy unspoilt sea views with your complimentary continental breakfast during the safety briefing. Get kitted up in your 5mm wetsuits while still on land and head out to Shark Alley on Megalodon II.

Once anchored, the sharks are lured by bait line to the cage. Viewing from the deck of the boat is almost as exciting as getting into the cage for an unforgettable close encounter. Approximately 3 hours at sea allows for more than one dive. The cage takes 4 or 5 people at a time on a rotational basis. There are drinks and snacks on board to enjoy while you warm up on the deck, before having another underwater encounter with these awe-inspiring apex predators. No diving experience is necessary for this surface cage dive, it's as easy as holding your breath.

The onboard cameraman is there to capture this unforgettable experience for you and after viewing the day's footage back on land, while you enjoy a hot lunch, you can choose to purchase a souvenir USB.

Enjoy land-based whale watching en route back to Cape Town or airport transfers at no extra cost.

It was a really great experience. When we arrived, we were greeted with breakfast, received a short briefing (in English) and Nepor suits, since the water itself now only gets 10 to 14 ° C in summer. Then we went out by boat for about 5 km. As soon as the first shark showed up, the first 5 people could enter the cage. Little by little there were more and more sharks that kept coming close to the cage. -Madness! Even if you chose not to get in the cage, you had a good view. In the end, a baby seal also appeared. After about half an hour there was a change and the next 5 people were able to get into the cage. Finally, the question was asked who would be interested in a second round. After a total of about 2-3 hours on the water we drove back and received a delicious lunch. The dive was also filmed. We were lucky with the weather. Really highly recommended!

The excursion is well and professionally organized. But you advertise with the "great white shark" and hadn't sighted us for a few days. For us, too, it was “only” copper sharks - but of course the organizers have no influence on that. It was a shame not to have seen a great white shark, but it was impressive

Unfortunately we did not see any great whites, however we saw plenty of bronze whaler sharks. The cage diving is fun but be prepared for quite a bumpy ride depending on the sea. We really got shook around in the cage and at times this made it difficult to see the sharks, however we did get plenty of face to face viewings of the sharks! This has been on my bucket list for years and I’m glad to have done it but will need to go again as I want to see great whites! It’s a bit rushed as you are required to get into the cage quickly to ensure their is enough time for everyone to have a go.
