What people are saying about Burford
45 minutes ~ 1 hour at each location (longer for lunch) may sound a little brief, but for wandering around those beautiful little villages at our own pace, it felt just right. Even cafe time Our guide was very knowledgeable and amusing, and even added a surprise little drive through the grounds of Blenheim Palace, which was a nice sight. Lunch occurred as promised, although I did overhear an accusatory discussion between the restaurant manager and our guide - apparently the communication had been lacking and the cooks were getting cross. We were also somewhat left in the dark regarding as and when we could sit, but everything otherwise occurred without a hitch. I also feel I should make mention of the fish option, which comes highly recommended, fresh from the neighbouring trout farm. Trout, like salmon, has a distinct flavour, which, when poached, comes across quite strongly. I enjoyed it, but my Japanese partner found it inedible. But that said, this tour has left us entranced.
Tha guide was obviously a person of great culture on British history. On our way he made the passage through London interesting with a lot of historical facts on the spots we were going through. When we reached the Cotswold he displayed a broad and precise knowledge of the four villages that we visited. He was very amicable as he replied to all our questions and queries. What we appreciated most was his sense of humour. We rate Frank as excellent. The driver John took us around during the 12-hour trip with his expert hands which made the tour comfortable and safe. Frank and John made a great team. We will recommend the tour to our children and relatives as well as friends.
My son and I really wanted to experience a day of just walking around the beautiful villages of Cotswolds and learn a bit about their history. We wanted to see the smaller villages and not be in a big group of people, so this tour was the perfect fit for us. We really had a perfect day, even if the weather was not so nice. Ian was a really interesting guide, telling us about the history of the region and some surprising and fun anecdotes about one village or another. He was able to answer all our questions and brought us to some really beautiful little places. Merci 1000 fois! For us it really was the perfect tour!
It was a very comfortable tour. The locales were excellent. Hotel Swan is one of the prominent Hotels in the region & the lunch was sumptuous & delicious. Our Guide Marina was a superstar. She is extremely knowledgeable & informed. She kept us engaged with stories and information throughout the trip. It was an experience to cherish and highly recommended to every tourist
Lucy was an exceptional guide, Tony was a careful and skilfull driver. Bus was comfy. Villages were lovely. Lunch in the picturesque Swan Hotel was nice, but the vegetable pie was a little short on vegetables. We were disappointed not to see any thatched cottages as per your email photo. Staff at Victoria CoachStation were helpful.
