Full description
The tour starts at the entrance of the museum, at the chocolate fountain. Every guest will take a delicious sweet, hold it under the flowing chocolate, and eat it. You will then be led past a display of shop windows from the turn of the previous century, while your guide tells you interesting stories about chocolate. Taste special chocolate from Gerbeaud, the most famous coffee shop in Budapest.

You will be taken to see the museum's collection of Rakoczi paintings, where you will taste Hungarian chocolate. Then visit the cellars, to try palinka, a Hungarian liqueur (children under 18 will be given chocolate tastings). Then you will have the chance to make your own chocolate, flavored with chili, cinnamon, coconut, and other fillings of your choice. As you wait for your creation to set, you will watch a short film about making chocolate, while drinking a cup of hot chocolate.

Next you will visit an authentic copy of the Stühmer chocolate shop, where you can buy the best chocolates in Europe. After seeing the model shop, you will be led to a room with candlelit tables, where you will taste a variety of special teas. You will be served the specialty of the museum, a delicious warm cookie. Adult guests can also taste a dessert wine, and children will be given more chocolate. At the end of the tour you will receive a chocolate gift pack.

We had so much fun on the tour. The museum is slightly out of town and took some time to get there but definitely worth a visit. I recommend booking in advance because you don't want to go all that way to find that it is fully booked. Very nice building on the outside and inside. Staff were nice and friendly and the best part was the tasting! We got to try so many different chocolates and not only that, we got hot chocolate and Palinka, a traditional drink from Hungary. Also ending the tour with yet more treats and tea! Definitely a must for all the chocolate lovers out there. A very unique experience.

Surreal Experience but Well Worth a Visit for Something Away from the Mass Tourism of Budapest. A lovely house to visit and a factual tour with PLENTY of chocolate to taste. Maybe not for everyone but I am glad I did the tour and experienced something totally unique. The guides and staff went above and beyond to look after us and the hospitality was great. Travelling out to it was an hour on the train but is included in the Budapest travel card so cost is minimal. Great way to see the Suburban area of Budapest also. If you enjoy chocolate and something different I would recommend.
